No. LatticeSearch is CPU-first — every part of it has a CPU path, and it does not require a Copilot+ NPU the way Windows' own semantic search does. If you have a compatible GPU it's used automatically to speed up the one-time indexing, with graceful fallback to CPU. Either way you get the same results; the GPU only changes how fast the initial backfill runs. There's also a Lite mode for low-RAM machines.
It's tiered, so you're searching by name within minutes. The meaning layers fill in afterward in the background — images and documents within an hour or so on a typical library; the heaviest senses (reading text inside images, understanding speech, describing scenes, grouping faces) can run for hours or overnight on a large collection. It's a one-time cost: after that, updates are incremental and quiet, and background work yields whenever you're actively using the machine.
Yes. Deletes done through the app go to the Recycle Bin and are archived to LatticeSearch's own recovery store for 90 days. You can restore them even by describing them rather than remembering the name, and they come back byte-identical.
The honest boundary: recovery covers deletions that went through LatticeSearch. It can't recover files removed by unrelated tools it never saw — an index cannot reconstruct bytes.
That's exactly what the access control is for. Switch to Work mode and the lattice is deny-by-default: it scans nothing until you green-tape specific folders, so company data, HR files and client work stay completely outside its view. Or stay in Personal mode and red-tape just the sensitive folders — those are excluded from indexing, file-serving, search results and AI access in every mode.
The same gate binds the AI substrate: an agent connected over MCP or the CLI can't read anything you've walled off, because the engine refuses the path before any tool sees it. Everything stays on the machine regardless — there's no cloud for confidential data to leak into. As always, check with your IT policy before installing software on a managed device.
